Crap, it's already been a month.

We have a lot going on right now but at the same time nothing at all. Let me explain. Our house and our car are for sale. We want to build a new house and get a new car. However, since we have not had anyone give us money for the current house or car, we will not be purchasing the new ones yet. (I had to explain this to Abby the other day - harder to explain to an almost 5 year old.) So, for now we are doing nothing, just waiting.

I have to admit I haven't wanted to post because everyone else has such exciting news on their blogs (aka the baby posts). I really am excited for all of you but I have to admit it is a little frustrating when many of my friends are relatives seem to get pregnant on the first shot. Every month gets a little more depressing. IF we got pregnant next month, Alex would be 29 months old(nearly 2 1/2) and I don't want our kids any more than 3 years apart if we can help it. So really, I am happy for everyone out there that is pregnant, or just had a baby. I just hope it doesn't take too long for us! And for that special cousin friend out there that has been trying longer than we (yes you), you are in our prayers.

So, I guess no pictures today. Don't have the patience to try to get the pictures downloaded off the camera with Alex helping out. :)

I Love To See The Temple!

We had the awesome experience to watch the Oquirrh Moutain Temple dedication this morning at 9. The best part is that we got to be in the sealing room right next to the celestial room where the prophet was. If we had been one row back we could have seen him through the doorway. It was awesome to hear his voice (and not through the TV) Our bishop and his daughter got to shake his hand. The other neat thing about this temple (and the reason we got such cool tickets) is we had the opportunity to help with the open houses for the temple on several occasions. It was amazing to see the millions of people that came through. We are so proud to be a small part in such an amazing process. We plan on keeping with our schedule of going to the temple every other week. It will be cool to actually do temple work in a temple we feel like we earned. I love being in the temple and am so glad to have our new temple!

Camping

This last weekend we went camping up near Soapstone pass with Shawn's parents. We invited them to stay in the trailer with us. We had a great time. Shawn and his dad got to go ride Shawn's motorcyle. Alex enjoyed playing with Grandma. The food was great! We also got to go to a lake and Alex got to throw rocks into the water. He loved it. He wanted to throw big rocks like dad. I was surprised at how strong he is! Unfortunately, again, we forgot our camera! We need to do better at that!

18 months!

On Saturday, our Little Son turned 18 months old! We are pretty pleased with him. He went to nursery for the first official time on Sunday and even made a picture for our fridge. He did well except he didn't like transitioning from one activity to the next. I only had to stay with him a few minutes until he felt comfortable.

Today I took Alex to the doctor for his 18 month well-child check-up. Unfortunately, that included a few shots. Ouch! We also continued working with the doctor on Alex's not sleeping. I didn't want to resort to drugs but tonight we finally caved and gave him a dose of benedryl. Only time will tell if it works. He has always gone to bed fine, but wakes up several times a night - and not very happy either. We have been working on this for nearly a year and would like it to come to an end. It is tiring and our patience is running thin. It is fortunate that he is so pleasant and fun during the day to make up for the terrible nights.

As for his measurements, he is a little on the small side. He was 31 1/2" tall and 24 pounds. This places him in the 25% for both. At least he is proportionate! We are still optimistic that he could be tall like his Dad, but will love him even if he isn't a giant!

Pictures anyone?

So I know there are many family and friends that are much better at taking pictures than I am (and remembering your camaras). I know that you have some fabulous shots of our family as we have spent time with you. Thanks for taking the pictures and when you get a chance could you email them to me. That is part of the reason I haven't updated the blog is I have no decent pictures. Thanks again.

Swimming at the big pool

One of my best friends, Toshi, and her family are moving to Florida so her husband can go to medical school. They had a private party at the local pool and we had so much fun. Alex really loved the slide (although we suck at taking pictures and have no pictures of that). I also wanted to mention that I looked pretty good in a bathing suit, considering the fact that I am a mom. Thanks to those who helped me pick out some flattering swimming attire. We are going to miss Toshi a bunch and hopefully we can scrape up some money and go see them soon.

Camping!

We had the opportunity to go camping with my family this weekend. Shawn dropped Alex and I off on Thursday morning to make sure we would have a spot for the weekend then headed off for work. Mom, Dad and Heidi got there Thursday morning as well. Lyndsie and the girls came up later. We were so excited to be able to have them for the weekend since they are usually with their dad for weekends. Phil came up in between shifts. Shawn worked late on Thursday and was able to get Friday off. Mike and Amanda weren't able to come up until Sunday morning (major bummer!). We had just bought a tent trailer and Monday and I worked really hard to have it cleaned, packed and ready for our trip! Mom and Dad borrowed a trailer from the neighbors. Abby and Joslynn slept in with Grandma and Grandpa and Heidi while Lyndsie and Phil got some alone time in their tent. Alex loved camping! He loved the dirt and the "potguts" and the trailer. He decided he would not eat real food but only junk while we were their and he had a hard time napping when the outside was so close. He loves to be outside and begs to go out all day at home. This camping trip was a dream come true for him. Here are some pictures from out excursion! I am usually pretty crappy about taking pictures so I had to take pictures of the trailer in the driveway!
